Sue P. McDaniel, Ph.D. has more than 15 years experience in education and state government as a teacher, speaker, author, director and researcher. Sue is president of Alternatives and a SkillPath trainer. Her experience as seminar speaker throughout the United States and internationally has honed her speaking and platform skills to a sharp edge. Sue co-authored and distributed Learning, Changing, Leading: Keys to Success in the 21st Century. This publication assisted the state welfare reform system and impacted the performance of staff working with welfare clients by increasing understanding of the issues and giving them tools for solving client barriers. Other books include: Thoughts, Attitudes and Beliefs; Leadership Belongs to All of Us; Creating Support for Women and Families; and The Process of Leading Change.

McDaniel was the Executive Director for the Missouri Women’s Council with the Missouri Department of Economic Development. Her direction expanded activities and services to the 2,000,000 women in Missouri and included a resource center, contracted training programs for women, conference for women in business, and materials for welfare reform. For two years, she organized an annual conference for over 500 women business owners interested in starting or expanding a business. She conducts classroom training in various soft-skill areas. Cannon Economic Development Consulting, L.L.C.

Earl. E. Cannon is a Certified Economic Developer with 41 years experience in economic development. He was employed by the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) for 39 years. He served in many capacities with DED from Research Associate to Director of the division responsible for Community and Economic Development Programs. Upon retiring in 2002 he formed Cannon Economic Development Consulting, L.L.C. where he engages in economic development consulting for communities and state agencies and facilitates strategic planning and other economic development programs.

Earl’s extensive background in research, state incentive programs and marketing qualifies him well for local development efforts. As a past member of the Board of Overseers for the Missouri Quality Award Program, he assisted in the development of guidelines for the Missouri Quality Program patterned after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. This along with his participation in the Missouri Community Betterment Program both in the leadership and evaluation activities has also given him a keen understanding of local and regional community and economic development efforts.
