Components Of Study

The Growth Services components of a labor study present a comprehensive approach to workforce analysis at the local level. Providing both the demand side (employer's perspective) and the supply side (worker's perspective) allows companies and organizations to assess not only the workforce availability but also the quality and costs as well. This provides an employer considering an expansion or a site location an assessment to evaluate issues by the degree of over-employment (deficient skills or under qualified) or underemployment (excess skills or over qualified) and desired wages by those considering employment to current wages paid by employers. The "Availability of Skilled Labor" and "Labor Cost" have become two of the major factors for employers in their site evaluation due to issues of competitiveness in the global economy.

These components of study can be conducted one at a time or as a total study. If you recently had a major layoff, the workforce availability component, measuring under-employment and the skills of the unemployed might be important information for marketing your community to outside employers and investors.
